Our Mission
At Thrive Therapeutic Services, our mission is to provide compassionate and professional psychotherapy and assessments. We aim to empower individuals to overcome challenges and enhance their mental well-being.
Dr Ian Scragg (HC)
Ian is a Consultant Psychotherapist and Registered/Accredited by the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Over the past 24 years Ian has provided therapy for vulnerable adults and children. This has included over 17 years in the prison service in roles that have included Operational Management, Head of Assessment, Therapy Manager and Senior Therapist.
Ian was involved in the setup and delivery of opening the largest purpose built Forensic Therapeutic Community for male offenders totalling 200 bed space and is highly skilled in project scoping and project management in order to achieve excellent service delivery.
In 2024, Ian was awarded “Individual and Group Therapy Expert of the Year” for the West Midlands, through Global Health and Pharmaceutical who also published a feature, two-page article on his practice and achievements.
For over the last 7 years Ian has worked predominately with children and young people in roles that have included Regional Clinician and Clinical Lead.
The latter has involved Ian having clinical and managerial oversight over 47 residential children’s’ homes and a clinical team.
In addition, Ian provided clinical consultations and training to carers and managers supporting children and young people.
In addition, Ian maintains a private practice holding a case load of providing therapy, clinical supervision of adults and young people. In addition Ian provides Clinical Consultations, assessments for children in care, employee support in varying sectors along with critical incident support.
In terms of qualifications, Ian is an accredited and registered Psychotherapist trained in humanistic, psychodynamic, and cognitive behavioural modalities.
Ian is also a qualified trauma specialist trained in Eye Movement, Desensitisation and Reprocessing Psychotherapist (EMDR)
As an experienced Director and Leader, Ian also holds a level 5 Degree qualification in leadership and management. This qualification and his experience have led to his expertise in being able to effectively manage and lead Services to a high standard alongside current guidance and pertinent legislation.
Ian holds a thorough understanding of the Children’s’ homes regulations, the quality standards and statutory guidance.
In terms of working to guidelines and regulations Ian has also been a Lead Reviewer as part of the Royal London College of Psychiatry, responsible for reviewing Democratic Therapeutic Communities for adults and children nationally.
